About the educational program
The House of Mohammed Ali Pasha is a place of learning and creation for children and school groups. Throughout the school year, students and teachers visit the museum, take guided tours and participate in various educational activities. The experience at the museum is enriched with play, learning and creative expression.
With the guidance of the museum’s guides, the children follow the tour of the 18th century mansion and learn about its Ottoman architecture, the daily life of its people and the multicultural past of Kavala. Then, playing a question game, the students discuss, exchange ideas and learn by competing in groups. The younger children on the other hand are encouraged to use their senses by recognizing the smells of spices and the musical sounds of the East. They paint geometric and floral motifs found on oriental carpets and rugs.
A visit to the museum becomes an experiential experience. Education goes beyond the boundaries of the classroom and explores the city’s monuments that still preserve something of its past.
