About the educational program
The Museum of Mohammed Ali Pasha offers various educational programs that combine knowledge, play and collaboration. Student groups are invited to learn about the everyday life in an 18th-century mansion of Ottoman Kavala, through activities such as guided tours, games, and collaboration. The museum’s educational activities encourage the active participation of children, sharpen their observation skills, and cultivate critical thinking and a love of learning.
The educational tours are addressed to school groups and their content is adapted to the age of the students. They take place from autumn to spring within the museum. With the guidance of the tour guides, the children tour the rooms and spaces of the old Ottoman house and learn about its functionality and architecture. Based on the knowledge they acquire, the older children start a question card game divided into groups, in a competitive spirit. The younger children, on the other hand, play a game of senses, encouraged to pay attention to sounds, music, and smells of oriental spices, or spend time drawing forms and shapes of geometric art.
Children play and express themselves creatively, gaining knowledge. The museum becomes a place of meeting and history, where learning is given experientially.
